In October 2022, Honolulu became the electrifying epicenter of LGBTQ+ flag football, as Gay Bowl XXII stormed into paradise with unstoppable energy, fierce competition, and an unforgettable celebration of community and sport. From October 6th to 9th, over 1,200 elite LGBTQ+ athletes from across the country clashed on the sun-drenched fields of Kapiolani Regional Park, battling for glory under the shadow of Diamond Head. With more than 50 teams representing 20 cities, the tournament wasn’t just about touchdowns—it was a powerful statement of unity, resilience, and the sheer joy of playing the game we love.
